finally! I was wondering what would happen next. Man that is one ugly skunk child. Do they all look like that? Creepy.

  2. Oneiros says:

Hauhet really is going through a process. From wanting to eat the kitty, to caring for it.

And what an ugly little kitty to feel for.

  3. FuriousSterling says:

That baby’s got a face only a mother could love.

  4. Yeah, but I feel like its mom the moment I look at it. Helpless little guy … little cutie … aww….

  5. Owlmirror says:

I’m guessing that the kitten looks like it does because the mother-model was ill and dying slowly. Diseases of the ovaries/uterus (or their analogs in the weirdhead/anthropomorph mother-models) seem very likely as they age, given how much they are stressed by a lifetime of constant activity, which could well lead to developmental abnormalities in the later offspring.

There are probably absolutely adorable winged kitties out there somewhere.

Hauhet looks beat up, but nowhere near as bad as Speed suggests the monks might have cut loose on her, on the comments for Part 5, pg 25 / pg 141of total. I’d guess that’s because Hau protected the kitten rather than drop it or let it get hit instead of her.

Oh, and speaking of winged kitties:

  7. scalesandfins says:

That hideous hairless cat baby is ridiculously endearing. Hau, you’re a good kid.

  8. Katie L. Droscha says:

…Has anyone ever SEEN a newborn kitten?!! Those things are UGLY little rats….but then in a weeks they are soooooo cute. Give that little monster a bottle and some love and see if that isn’t the cutest sex slave you ever saw.

  9. Is she sleeping on tile?

  10. jessy says:

I notice that too, I was wondering if the monks hadn’t taken her in sort of. Like maybe shes looking after the kitten and has taken her lumps (bloody hypocritical budhists) now she’s a novice?

  11. Oneiros says:

She’s wearing one of their robes now. Didn’t notice until you mentioned it, jessy.

These are Fight Club Buddhists. ;)

  12. reptangle says:

I’ve been making these things for years: http://melodypena.elfwood.com/-flapcats%28tm%29-painted-in-various-colors.3520438.html
Hau is wearing a robe, but it is darker than the monks robes, which I picture as bright saffron-colored.
Notice how banged up her knuckles are. I bet there are a few monks in the same condition right now.
Oh man, my bones ache looking at that sore, bruised girl lying on a tile floor!
That is one of the reasons that this is an absolutely exquisite page. Not only is it visually beautiful, but it is SO sensual. I can practically feel the rubbery warm skin and pointy elbows of that baby thing, and I can imagine what it smells like.

  13. jessy says:

    Bet it woulda tasted awful

  14. Mr Frisky says:

And they gave her a wee rite-of-passage-pendant too.

  15. Owlmirror says:

And they gave her a wee rite-of-passage-pendant too.

Huh? No, she has it in all of her previous appearances. It’s almost certainly her comm link to Jack’s comm center — she talks into it as she narrates what she’s doing and where she is. Sometimes she drops it when she needs her hands for other things, but she always picks it back up again.

If Kemet’s clumsy speaking-horn (with chest-straps, yet!) is a first-gen device, Hauhet’s is one of the most recent ones. Pinya’s been improving her tech skills pretty rapidly, I would guess, but has not distributed the results equally.

Or maybe Jack and Kemet are just steampunk fans?

  16. Drooling Fan Girl says:

Man, a T-Shirt with and image of these two on it would be awesome. Her with that, “what in the world have i gotten myself into” look on her face and what has got to be one of the more ugly babies critters I’ve ever seen.
