Sooooo, I have been wondering this for the past few weeks, and now I have the chance to bring it up. Okay, we all know that Jaeger’s hair changes with time and story. HOWEVER….is this CURRENT hairstyle we see a precursor to the Hairstyle Jaeger wore/ will wear in Dream Sequence?
In Dream Sequence, Jaeger is scruffy, bearded and more than willing to kick ass with a fire hose. And his hair looks like the above pic (shaved on the sides, hair on the top) but longer and pulled back….any other opinions?
Another question – what’s he looking at in Panel 1 here? Is he afraid to look at the guy, are head machines making it impossible for him to look at the guy (after all the guy gets away)? I like furious Jaeger final panel.
@Katie: cool question! I guess I sitll assume his look in Dream Sequence is an attempt to avoid his digital porn star celebrity status. I think Rachel might have noticed or heard of it if Jaeger was already Ron Jeremy at this part of the timeline, but I don’t know. Of course he might have different hair in order to confuse these Munkyland/blur shits with the cameras (though his cover is probably long blown by now). I dunno.

I suspect that he’s just averting his eyes in case the guy pops another flashbulb.
I’m pretty sure it’s Jaeger. He’s wearing the same suit he had on when he visited Rachel (and Jack), and he had no hand tattoos on at that time. And his hair matches his hair for his visit to Rachel in part III, as well. But yes, he does look a little different here. Little wild with the big eyes.
Is this really the same day that Jaeger had his pic taken in Rachel’s basement? Could be. Hard to tell the passage of time. But I would like to think Jaeger’s not wearing the same suit for more than a day, though he’s certainly worn other clothes for many days on end.
Part III is about Jaeger visiting Rachel, then afterwards going down to the cellar ro give Jackdaw the books, talk a bit about Anvard’s mysterious history (the Interregnum?), discuss the Thing in the Cellar that Jackdaw is building, get photographed by someone who disappears, turn on the LOUD Thing in the Cellar, get squirted (with lemon juice/urine?) and squirt back (speaking of Bad Dogs — real territorial behavior there…), and talk about squirtguns.
After he leaves, Jack connects to all his friends out in the field, and hears their reports (and gets Toth rescued from a collapse).
Then we see Jack arguing with Chief Coward for getting implanted tech. Chief Coward, always smiling, says he will abominate implant tech. This might be the same day, or a day or two later.
Then we see Oriana promulgating the abomination (You No Can Has Beepity-Beep!), and Jack being mightily pissed off. Again, this might be the same day as the abomination, or a bit later.
Part IV is about Rachel’s waking up to that medical exam — presumably the morning (or afternoon, depending on how late the party ran) after the same abominating sequence.
Part V appears to be taking place on the next day that Jack has scheduled for reporting on Weird Shit and Revelations, because almost everyone is following up on the previous Revelations and Weird Shit. Except Jack’s gone and gotten biotech from a Laeske (maybe the operation took longer than he expected, or got started late — perhaps he originally planned to get the implant and do his radio show while reporting on what his new biotech felt like). It must be at least a day after the Oriana abominating sequence, but is more likely even later; maybe even as much as a week after the first radio show we see.
In Munkyland, Jaeger did not want his picture taken by Munkyland security, because he knew that he had gotten in without paying (or by being hired), and that if Munkyland security figured that out, they would put him out (which they eventually did and did).
I don’t think it’s the picture taking in itself that bothers Jaeger so much as the fact that the picture takers are popping up, taking their pictures, and vanishing. They seem to be targeting Ascians (Jack; Jack and Jaeger; Kemet), and despite their attempts to appear amusingly whimsical with their colorful ethnic outfits, Jaeger either suspects or knows that they are up to No Good.
Hence the whole AYAAAAAAH! thing.
Munkylanders have been suggested before, and the ethnic costumes fit their general modus operandi, but what would be their motive? Do they want to bring a lawsuit to get the Ascians back performing for them?
Maybe they just want to get Ascian facial profile data because they want to create their own (holographic) Ascian performance troupe. That sounds like something they would do.
And if anyone would work on perfecting powerful mindblank (and/or teleport) technology, and keep it a secret from everyone else, it would so much be Munkylanders.
I was thinking of King of the Cats. Admittedly in that case the people trying to photograph him were also the people who ran things and were trying to get rid of him, but they did take his likeness and do fairly extreme things with it.
And this is Anvard, where Speed warns us to “be careful what you sing in the shower; somebody somewhere will consider it an audition.” We already saw the extensive repercussions of Jaeger’s fall from the Godsfeast Tavern being caught on camera. Maghri White (mentally, subconsciously) made Jaeger’s likeness into the monster-from-the-id that destroyed Elsewhere.
Bottom line is: Jaeger (I think) is instinctively averse to having his image recorded and used by others in ways he doesn’t control. And he REALLY doesn’t like the idea of it being traceable back to him; he doesn’t like the idea of being recognised or noticed or even seen when he doesn’t want to be.
(This is all just me waffling really; I’m just a reader, not an authority.)
Liza, . That IS a great suit. But if he’s jumping around in it as he does here, he’s getting it pretty dirty. But this might be some kind of anti-stain material.
By the way, if I have a Finder nickname for you, it would be “Lady Speedchick”, but none of my nicknames seem to be sticking.

Is that really Jaeger? His eyes look un-Jaeger-y
and he has no hand tattoos.

I do wonder what the heck he’s doing.
AAagh! Attack of the Manic Mad-Eyed Manwhore!
Jaeger REALLY doesn’t like having his photo taken, and this is at least the second time it’s happened toay.

I don’t see how it can possibly be the same day.

Yeah, you’re right — probably not the same day, my bad.
But you know, Oneiros, if I had a suit that awesome I’d probably wear it pretty regularly.
Why would Jaeger not want his photo taken? He never minded before.

“All part of the show!”, indeed.

Where did Jaeger come from ??? It is as if he materialized out of nowhere -just like the photographer.
Yeah, that’s true. It seemed that Kemet was by himself with the crossbeam part, no one else around.
