I’ve just finished reading Torch and I love it! Can’t wait for the next update!

The body language here is great– Glasses is so grumpy and hostile. Has Jack perhaps come in with Wacky Ideas before? Perhaps Wacky Ideas that blew up? Regardless, I like to image that Jack is actually saying “deep breath” before his rant.

Also, there is little sadder than a big ornate empty bookshelf. I weep.

Jack’s observation that in avoiding getting lost in the big world of Anvard, that tribes are formed, is a great commentary on our own world.

The fact that the scouts that Jack communicates with cannot communicate with each other reminds me of the scattered friends I have that generally don’t communicate with each other. A few email friends, a few in-person friends. I seem to have this recluse side of myself that attracts like.
