This is the first appearance of Ahsef in the field, or rather, in the woods, or rather, as we later learn, Coldgarden. He’s listening to the violin playing, and will learn much more about violins when he returns to intreview the violin player. He will also learn more about himself, in that he is either epileptic and/or (“much worse than that”) Godspoken.
