DARK HORSE PRESENTS #1 on sale!

Hey, look at that! I’m all up in there with Neal Adams and Frank Miller and Harlan Ellison. It’s like getting a whole stack of new books by your favorite people, ‘cept it’s all in one book. I hear tell it’s hit the shops today!

Virtual MoCCA, Friday through Sunday

I can’t make it to NYC this year, so here: anyone who wants to buy from my shop this weekend can pretend they’re getting books at MoCCA (with Friday thrown in, since MoCCA Fest is only Saturday and Sunday). International folks, you’re out of luck this time. Maybe I’ll do a virtual Angouleme some other weekend.

Everybody have fun, I’ll be over here drawing.

Prices on TPBs going down, and FREE SHIPPING weekend

Prices on the books printed under Lightspeed Press’ imprint are all zooming down to a flat $10 each. The little hardcover is now $19.99. These are the same prices I’m charging at cons.

The full set’s price is a little higher than that because it is a full set for those who want all their books to be the same size; I have very few of the old Sin-Eater TPBs left. When they’re gone, I’ll take the full set listing down.

ALSO, since I can’t make it to MoCCA this weekend (just got back from WonderCon LAST weekend, and the weekend after next I’ll be at Stumptown, whew), I am declaring a SHIPPING HOLIDAY.

From Friday, April 8th through Sunday, April 10th, free shipping on all domestic orders! Have some books. Raise a glass to MoCCA for me, I’ll try to get out there next year.

New DHP Finder site is live

Go looook:

It’s got the first schematic drawing of Anvard’s dome I’ve ever let out of the vault. Dark Horse insisted. Go tell them to insist more often, and you might get that source book out of me you footnote junkies have been asking for for so long.

Color Notes

Notes for my amazing colorists, who will make this hot mess look lovely.  AND… this story is titled FINDER: THIRD WORLD, part 1, and will appear in DARK HORSE PRESENTS #1 in April. DARK HORSE PRESENTS, oh yes… loads of my favorite comics got their start in that anthology.

Grumpy Git In Fancy Suit

Pencils for page 1 of first DHP story

This is pencilled page one of THIRD WORLD, a FINDER story which will run in 8-page installments in DARK HORSE PRESENTS. Get a job, sha na na na, sha na na na na, ba doo.

Back of first page with corrections.

Here’s an interesting thing: my eyes are lopsided.

Well, my brain, more likely. I have an aggravating tendency to favor the right side of a drawing over the left side. This is why, if I’m not careful, my characters sometimes end up looking like they have mumps, or eyes at different levels, or flat profiles. The best way to fix it is to flip the drawing over on my lightbox and drag the shapes back the other way. When all’s said or done, I can’t be sure they’re fixed, because I have only the same faulty brain to check it with. But you can see the lines I drew on the back of this one to correct Jaeger’s face, profile, shoulder, and leg.

Inked first page of first DHP story.

Aww. Somebody needs a nap.

From here it goes to color. Yass, color, by Bill Mudron and Jenn Manley Lee, who are both way too good to be doing MY stuff.

Here’s Bill: http://www.excelsiorstudios.net/ and here’s Jenn: http://www.jennmanleylee.com/

Scribbly.

And last, this is page one of the script. This is what my scripts look like when I’m just writing for myself.  Might have gotten more of the ‘dentisty waiting room’ out in the art if I’d had room, but the close-up of Jaeger was more important to the story.

In Which I Throw Everyone A Bone

Though you may of course have crackers if you’d rather. Anyway, here, O Best Beloved, is the first of the mostly-daily art blog. Since it will be some time before I can go back to posting new pages of TORCH, I thought I’d start posting bits and bobs of all the work I’m doing that takes me away from it.

BOOO, uploader that makes image little tiny. This is the wraparound cover for the first big FINDER LIBRARY, due out next Spring, which will contain SIN-EATER 1 and 2, KING OF THE CATS, and TALISMAN.
