Language is a technology. Written language is definitely a technology, and when it was invented it lead to a huge revolution in human cultures.

This isn’t the first time Paul Simon has showed up here. I’m always tantalized by how these artifacts wind up in Finder’s world.

The Gutenberg printing press is generally pinpointed to the year 1440.

But if books can be considered a technology, I suppose so could language.

Jack seems to be justifying his desire to get jacked into the Net. We’ll see if he’s taken the step of actually getting a jack. But how could he afford one? He might just be feeling spaced right now, dreaming about how he’ll get one or, somehow, make one.

I’m jacked into Finder. I grew up jacked into the Bible. I expunged that in a certain way, but now it’s a part of me moreso on my own terms. I found it funny, when I was reading King of the Cats, when I considered Carla’s pointed commentary on control of others’ perceptions (with regard to the ViewFinder-ish technology that the MunkyLand customers would wear on their eyes that would tell them what was what, and where to look), that sometimes I’d look at life through Finder glasses. More particularly, I’d look at myself through Finder glasses, relating some aspect of myself to some character in Finder. But I do that with most any halfway decent story.

Hey, another panel might come out tomorrow, prove me wrong, but he looks spaced and thrilled-satisfied (excited but not expectant) and I think he’s already had the jack put in. Also his hair looks different, possibility he’s had some of it shaved for the operation (if any).
